Vada Pav (वडा पाव)
Vada Pav is a popular street food in Maharashtra, India. It consists of a spicy potato fritter (vada) served inside a bun (pav) along with chutneys and green chili. It is often served with a side of fried green chilies or a spicy garlic chutney.
Ingredients
- 4 pav (buns)
- 4 boiled and mashed potatoes
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 8-10 garlic cloves
- 4 green chilies
- Oil for frying
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Boil, peel, and mash the potatoes. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and form into small balls.
- Prepare a batter with gram flour, salt, and water. Dip the potato balls in the batter and deep fry until golden brown.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and chopped garlic. Saute until the garlic turns golden brown.
- Slit the pav (buns) and spread some garlic chutney on one side and tamarind chutney on the other.
- Place the fried potato fritter inside the pav and serve hot with fried green chilies.
