Vada Pav Bites

Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Oil for frying
  • 24 small dinner rolls or slider buns
  • Green chutney and tamarind chutney for serving

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, ginger, green chilies, cilantro, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth mixture.
  2. In a separate bowl, prepare the batter by mixing gram flour and water to form a smooth, thick consistency.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  4. Shape the potato mixture into small balls and dip each ball into the gram flour batter, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  5. Carefully drop the coated potato balls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Slice the dinner rolls or slider buns in half. Place a fried potato ball on the bottom half of each bun.
  7. Top with a dollop of green chutney and tamarind chutney, then cover with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve the Vada Pav Bites hot and enjoy!
