Vaduz Kalbsfrikadellen In Rahmsauce (vaduz Veal Meatballs In Cream Sauce)
Vaduz Kalbsfrikadellen in Rahmsauce, or Vaduz Veal Meatballs in Cream Sauce, is a classic dish from Liechtenstein that features tender veal meatballs in a rich and creamy sauce. This comforting and flavorful meal is perfect for a cozy dinner at home.
Ingredients
- 500g ground veal
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef or veal broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground veal, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into small meatballs.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- Sprinkle the flour into the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the beef or veal broth, making sure to eliminate any lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Stir in the heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened further.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
