Ingredients
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon saffron strands
- 1 tablespoon chopped pistachios
- 1 tablespoon chopped almonds
Instructions
- In a large heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer the milk, stirring occasionally, until it reduces to half its original quantity, about 1.5 hours.
- Add the sugar and saffron strands to the reduced milk and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the malaiyo cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, transfer the malaiyo to serving bowls and garnish with chopped pistachios and almonds.
