Vegemite Cheese Scrolls, also known as Aussie Vegemite Cheese Scrolls, are a popular savory snack in Australasian cuisine. These delicious scrolls are made with Vegemite, a salty spread made from brewer's yeast extract, and gooey melted cheese, all wrapped up in a soft, fluffy dough.
Ingredients
- 3 cups self-raising flour
- 1 cup milk
- 80g butter, melted
- 1/4 cup Vegemite
- 1 1/2 cups grated tasty cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the self-raising flour and milk to form a soft dough.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 1cm thick.
- Spread the Vegemite evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
- Starting from the long edge, roll the dough up tightly to form a log.
- Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them on the prepared baking tray.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the scrolls are golden and the cheese is melted.
