Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, egg, water, and salt to form a dough. Knead the dough until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, cooked bacon, and chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.
- Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center of each circle, then fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the varenikai in batches for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
