Ingredients
- 1 lb white fish fillets, such as cod or tilapia, finely chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup chopped scallions
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped fish, flour, onion, garlic, cumin, turmeric, cayenne pepper, cilantro, and scallions.
- Stir in the beaten egg and water to form a thick batter. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
- Scoop spoonfuls of the fish batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil.
- Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve the Vis Beignets hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
