Wain (rumbek Rice And Beans)
Wain, also known as Rumbek Rice and Beans, is a traditional dish from South Sudanese Cuisine that is hearty, flavorful, and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of white rice
- 1 cup of red beans
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, diced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups of water
Instructions
- Rinse the rice and beans under cold water.
- In a large pot, sauté the onions and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the tomatoes, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the rice and beans, then add the water.
- Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the rice and beans are tender.
- Fluff with a fork and serve hot.
