Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups ground walnuts
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until the dough comes together.
- Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared cake pan.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the ground walnuts, 1/2 cup sugar, milk, and cinnamon. Spread the walnut filling over the dough in the pan.
- Crumble the remaining dough over the walnut filling.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Let the cake cool in the pan before serving.
