Warak Enab (saudi Arabian Stuffed Grape Leaves)

Ingredients

  • 1 jar of grape leaves
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 250g of ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh mint, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups of water

Instructions

  1. Rinse the grape leaves under cold water to remove excess salt.
  2. In a bowl, mix the rice, ground beef, onion, tomatoes, parsley, mint, olive oil, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a grape leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down. Place a small amount of the rice mixture in the center of the leaf.
  4. Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling, then roll it up tightly.
  5. Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
  6. Place the stuffed grape leaves in a pot, seam side down, and add water to cover them.
  7. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 1 hour.
  8. Once cooked, remove from heat and let them cool before serving.
