Warak Enab (saudi Arabian Stuffed Grape Leaves)
Warak Enab, also known as stuffed grape leaves, is a popular dish in Saudi Arabian cuisine. These delicious grape leaves are filled with a flavorful mixture of rice, meat, and spices, creating a delightful combination of savory flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 jar of grape leaves
- 1 cup of rice
- 250g of ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup of fresh mint, chopped
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups of water
Instructions
- Rinse the grape leaves under cold water to remove excess salt.
- In a bowl, mix the rice, ground beef, onion, tomatoes, parsley, mint, olive oil, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Place a grape leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down. Place a small amount of the rice mixture in the center of the leaf.
- Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling, then roll it up tightly.
- Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
- Place the stuffed grape leaves in a pot, seam side down, and add water to cover them.
- Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 1 hour.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let them cool before serving.
