Warak Enab (stuffed Grape Leaves With Rice And Meat)
Warak Enab, also known as Stuffed Grape Leaves with Rice and Meat, is a popular dish in Kuwaiti cuisine. The combination of tender grape leaves, flavorful rice, and savory meat makes this dish a favorite for special occasions and family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 jar of grape leaves
- 1 cup of rice
- 250g of ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup of fresh mint, chopped
- 1/4 cup of lemon juice
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the grape leaves under cold water and drain well.
- In a bowl, mix the rice, ground beef, onion, tomatoes, parsley, mint, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Place a grape leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down. Place a spoonful of the rice and meat mixture in the center of the leaf.
- Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling, then roll it up tightly.
- Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
- Place the stuffed grape leaves in a pot, seam side down, and add enough water to cover them.
- Place a plate on top of the grape leaves to keep them submerged, then cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour.
- Remove from heat and let the grape leaves cool before serving.
