Wasabi Kani Rangoon (wasabi Crab Rangoons)
Wasabi Kani Rangoon, also known as Wasabi Crab Rangoons, are a delicious and popular appetizer in Japanese Chinese cuisine. These crispy, creamy, and flavorful crab-filled wontons are a perfect addition to any meal or party spread.
Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup (60g) mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons (10g) wasabi paste
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- 6 oz (170g) canned crab meat, drained and flaked
- 24 wonton wrappers
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, soy sauce, wasabi paste, and green onion. Mix until well combined.
- Gently fold in the flaked crab meat into the cream cheese mixture.
- Place a small spoonful of the crab mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the filled wontons in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried wontons and drain on paper towels.
- Serve the Wasabi Kani Rangoon hot with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
