Ingredients

  • 4 sheets of nori (seaweed)
  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 pound fresh sashimi-grade tuna
  • 1/2 pound fresh sashimi-grade salmon
  • 2 tablespoons wasabi paste
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sushi rice by rinsing it under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds and stir until the sugar and salt are dissolved. Pour the mixture over the cooked rice and mix well. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
  3. Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  4. Spread a thin line of wasabi paste across the center of the rice. Arrange the tuna, salmon, cucumber, and avocado on top of the wasabi.
  5. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, sealing the edge with a little water. Cut the roll into 6-8 pieces using a sharp knife.
  6. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 4 rolls.
