Wheat-free Turkey Meatballs With Tomato Sauce
These wheat-free turkey meatballs with tomato sauce are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional meatballs. Packed with flavor and easy to make, they are perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, almond flour, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, spooning the tomato sauce over them. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs and tomato sauce over cooked spaghetti squash or zucchini noodles.
