Whispers of the Orient (Chuchotements de l'Orient)
Chuchotements de l'Orient (Whispers of the Orient) is a delightful Nouvelle cuisine dish that brings together the exotic flavors of the East in a light and elegant presentation.
Ingredients
- 200g jasmine rice
- 400g tofu, cubed
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a pot, cook the jasmine rice according to package instructions.
- In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the tofu to the skillet and add the soy sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Divide the cooked jasmine rice among serving plates and top with the tofu and vegetable stir-fry.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and green onions.
