Whispers of the Orient (Chuchotements de l'Orient)

Ingredients

  • 200g jasmine rice
  • 400g tofu, cubed
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a pot, cook the jasmine rice according to package instructions.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  4. Return the tofu to the skillet and add the soy sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Divide the cooked jasmine rice among serving plates and top with the tofu and vegetable stir-fry.
  7. Garnish with chopped cilantro and green onions.
