Ingredients
- 2 cups ground poppy seeds
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 package of phyllo pastry sheets
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the ground poppy seeds, sugar, chopped nuts, and raisins.
- Place one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.
- Repeat the process with 4 more sheets of phyllo pastry, layering each sheet on top of the previous one.
- Spread the poppy seed mixture over the layered phyllo pastry.
- Roll up the pastry, tucking in the edges, and place it seam side down on a baking sheet.
- Brush the top with melted butter and bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
