Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream, until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared springform pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Arrange the plum halves, skin side down, on top of the batter. Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of sugar over the plums.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing the sides of the springform pan.
- Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
