Wonton Soup (sopa Wantan)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped shrimp
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 24 square wonton wrappers
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup sliced bok choy
  • 1/2 cup sliced shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the ground pork, chopped shrimp, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and green onions.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle. Press the edges to seal.
  3. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a simmer. Add the bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, and rice vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Gently drop the wontons into the simmering broth and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
  5. Serve the wonton soup hot, garnished with additional chopped green onions if desired.
