Wu Xiang Chao Fan (five Spice Fried Rice)
Wu Xiang Chao Fan, or Five Spice Fried Rice, is a popular dish in Pakistani Chinese cuisine. This flavorful and aromatic fried rice is a perfect way to use up leftover rice and create a quick and delicious meal.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked rice, chilled
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon five spice powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the beaten eggs and scramble until cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in the same skillet. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced carrot, and frozen peas. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the chilled cooked rice to the skillet. Use a spatula to break up any clumps and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked eggs back to the skillet. Pour in the soy sauce and sprinkle the five spice powder over the rice. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Transfer the fried rice to a serving dish and serve hot.
