Xia Jiao (shrimp Dumplings)
Xia Jiao, also known as Shrimp Dumplings, is a popular dish in Guangxi Cuisine. These delicate dumplings are filled with a flavorful mixture of shrimp and seasonings, wrapped in a thin, translucent wrapper, and then steamed to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 20 round dumpling wrappers
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped.
- Transfer the chopped shrimp to a bowl and add garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper. Mix well.
- Place a small spoonful of the shrimp mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper.
- Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold and pleat to seal the dumplings.
- Place the dumplings in a steamer lined with parchment paper and steam for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
