Xi'an Style Braised Chicken Wings (Xi'an Hong Shao Ji Chi)
Xi'an Hong Shao Ji Chi, or Xi'an Style Braised Chicken Wings, is a classic dish from Shaanxi Cuisine known for its rich flavors and tender chicken wings.
Ingredients
- 12 chicken wings
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 slices ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups water
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the ginger and garlic, and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the chicken wings and brown them on all sides.
- Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sugar. Stir to coat the chicken wings.
- Add the water and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes.
- Uncover the pot, increase the heat to medium, and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
