Yaki Mandu

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 20 round dumpling wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, cabbage, onion, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold the dough over the filling, pressing the edges to seal.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the dumplings in the skillet in a single layer and cook until golden brown on the bottom, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the dumplings for about 5 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.
  5. Remove the lid and continue to cook until all the water has evaporated and the bottoms of the dumplings are crispy.
  6. Transfer the yaki mandu to a serving plate and serve hot with dipping sauce.
