Yakidofu (grilled Miso-marinated Tofu)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 3 tablespoons of miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons of mirin
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix the miso paste, mirin, soy sauce, and sugar to make the marinade.
  3. Coat the tofu slices with the marinade and let them sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and grill the tofu slices for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Transfer the grilled tofu to a serving plate and garnish with sliced green onions.
