Yakitori Yum Yum Rice Bowl (焼き鳥のヤムヤム丼)
焼き鳥のヤムヤム丼 (Yakitori Yum Yum Rice Bowl) is a delicious Japanese dish featuring grilled chicken skewers served over a bed of steamed rice, topped with a flavorful sauce and garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 2 tablespoons sake
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is slightly thickened. Set aside.
- Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and thread onto skewers. Grill the chicken skewers on a stovetop grill or in a grill pan over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until cooked through and slightly charred, about 10-12 minutes.
- To assemble the Yakitori Yum Yum Rice Bowl, place a portion of cooked rice in each serving bowl. Top with the grilled chicken skewers, drizzle with the prepared sauce, and sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
