Yaprak Dolma (stuffed Grape Leaves With Rice)

Ingredients

  • 1 jar of grape leaves, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 lemon, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling by combining the rice, onion, tomato, dill, parsley, olive oil, salt, black pepper, cumin, and paprika in a bowl.
  2. Place a grape leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down. Place a small amount of the filling in the center of the leaf.
  3. Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling, then roll it up tightly.
  4. Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling.
  5. Place the stuffed grape leaves in a large pot, seam side down, and layer them tightly.
  6. Place a few lemon slices on top of the stuffed grape leaves.
  7. Add enough water to cover the grape leaves, then place a plate on top to keep them submerged.
  8. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 1 hour.
  9. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool before serving.
