Ingredients
- 1 cup red lentils, rinsed and soaked
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the soaked lentils, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix well to form a thick batter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Scoop spoonfuls of the lentil batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Flatten the fritters with the back of the spoon.
- Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the Yemisir Kikwat hot with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney.
