Ingredients

  • 1 cup red lentils, rinsed and soaked

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the soaked lentils, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix well to form a thick batter.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Scoop spoonfuls of the lentil batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Flatten the fritters with the back of the spoon.
  4. Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
