Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu, drained and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic, ginger, and green onions. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Add water and bring to a simmer.
  5. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and serve the Jade Emperor's Fried Tofu hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
