Yummy Kymyz Soup with Mint (Кымызный суп с мятой)
Kymyz is a traditional fermented mare's milk beverage in Kyrgyzstan, and it is also used in cooking. This recipe combines the tangy flavor of kymyz with the refreshing taste of mint to create a unique and delicious soup.
Ingredients
- 1 liter kymyz
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Pour in the kymyz and bring to a simmer.
- Add the chopped mint leaves, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer for 10 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Serve the kymyz soup hot, garnished with additional mint leaves if desired.
