Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) beef sirloin, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp (30g) brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp (10g) Sichuan peppercorns, crushed
  • 2 tsp (10g) chili flakes
  • 1 tsp (5g) five-spice powder
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water
  • 1 bunch scallions, cut into 1-inch pieces

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, vegetable oil, brown sugar, garlic, Sichuan peppercorns, chili flakes, five-spice powder, salt, rice vinegar, and water to make the marinade.
  2. Add the beef cubes to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated beef cubes and scallion pieces onto skewers.
  5. Grill the beef skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked to desired doneness.
  6. Serve the grilled beef skewers hot and enjoy!
