Zadar Maraschino Cheesecake (Zadarski maraschino kolač s kremom)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup Zadar maraschino liqueur
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, Zadar maraschino liqueur, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crust in the springform pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the center is almost set.
  6. Remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Then, carefully run a knife around the edge of the pan to loosen the cheesecake. Allow it to cool completely before removing the pan.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the sour cream and powdered sugar. Spread the mixture over the top of the cooled cheesecake.
  8. Refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving.
