Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads

  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, or cashews)
  • 1/4 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the milk to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water, then add it to the boiling milk.
  3. Stir in the sugar, saffron threads, and ground cardamom.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let the rice pudding simmer for 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice is cooked and the mixture has thickened.
  5. Stir in the chopped nuts and raisins, then remove the pot from the heat.
