Zesty Zanzibari Octopus

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh octopus, cleaned and cut into pieces

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and red chili until fragrant.
  2. Add the turmeric, cumin, and paprika, and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the octopus pieces to the pot and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in the coconut milk and add the diced tomatoes. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, or until the octopus is tender.
