Zucchini Gratin (gratin De Courgettes)
Zucchini Gratin, or Gratin de Courgettes, is a classic French dish that combines tender zucchini with a creamy, cheesy sauce. This dish is perfect for showcasing the fresh flavors of summer and makes a delicious side or light main course.
Ingredients
- 4 medium zucchinis, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the sliced zucchinis in a large pot of boiling salted water and cook for 3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 3/4 cup of the Gruyère cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Arrange the zucchini slices in a greased baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle the remaining Gruyère cheese and Parmesan cheese over the zucchini.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
