Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Dip the coated chicken pieces into the beaten eggs, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Add the fried chicken and toss to coat in the sauce.
  6. Transfer the General Tso's Chicken to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
