Dim Sum Platter
Dim Sum Platter is a classic Cantonese dish consisting of a variety of small, bite-sized portions of food served in steamer baskets or on small plates. It is a popular choice for brunch or lunch, offering a wide selection of savory and sweet options.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/4 cup chopped shrimp
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 8 dried shiitake mushrooms
- 1/2 lb Chinese broccoli
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and water to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped shrimp, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, white pepper, and chopped green onions. Mix well and set aside.
- Soak the glutinous rice and dried shiitake mushrooms in separate bowls of water for 2 hours. Drain and set aside.
- Blanch the Chinese broccoli in boiling water for 1 minute, then transfer to an ice bath to cool. Drain and set aside.
- Roll out the dough into a thin sheet and cut into small circles. Place a spoonful of the pork and shrimp mixture in the center of each circle and fold to seal.
- Place the stuffed dough on a plate and steam for 15 minutes.
- In a separate steamer basket, steam the glutinous rice and dried shiitake mushrooms for 20 minutes.
- Arrange the steamed dumplings, glutinous rice, mushrooms, and Chinese broccoli on a platter and serve hot.
