Fried Radish Cake (炒萝卜糕)
炒萝卜糕 (Fried Radish Cake) is a popular dish in Malaysian Chinese cuisine, often enjoyed as a breakfast or snack. It is made with radish cake, which is steamed and then pan-fried to create a crispy exterior and a soft, flavorful interior.
Ingredients
- 500g radish cake, cubed
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 stalks spring onions, chopped
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp of cooking oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Add the cubed radish cake and pan-fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 1 tbsp of cooking oil in the same pan. Add minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Pour in the beaten eggs and scramble until cooked through.
- Return the pan-fried radish cake to the pan. Add soy sauce, white pepper, and salt. Stir-fry until well combined.
- Add chopped spring onions and continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving plate and serve hot.
