Garudhiya (maldivian Seafood Soup)
Garudhiya is a traditional Maldivian seafood soup that is simple yet flavorful. It is a staple dish in Maldivian cuisine, often enjoyed with steamed rice or roshi (flatbread).
Ingredients
- 1 kg mixed seafood (tuna, grouper, snapper, etc.)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 6 cups water
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 green chilies, sliced
- Handful of curry leaves
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Add the onion, garlic, ginger, and tomatoes to the boiling water.
- Simmer for 15 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- Add the mixed seafood to the pot and cook for another 10-15 minutes until the seafood is fully cooked.
- Season with salt and add the green chilies and curry leaves.
- Simmer for an additional 5 minutes before serving.
