Potato Stuffed Flatbread (bhojpuri Aloo Paratha)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, water, and a pinch of salt to make a soft dough. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, cumin seeds, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt to make the stuffing.
  3. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and roll each ball into a small circle. Place a portion of the potato stuffing in the center and seal the edges to form a stuffed ball.

  5. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and cook the paratha with ghee or oil until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Repeat the process for the remaining dough and stuffing to make more parathas.
