Sattu Paratha (सत्तू पराठा)
सत्तू पराठा (Sattu Paratha) is a traditional Bihari dish made with roasted gram flour and spices, stuffed inside a whole wheat flatbread. It is a popular breakfast or lunch option and is often served with yogurt, pickle, or chutney.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup sattu (roasted gram flour)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Ghee or oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, sattu, chopped onion, green chilies, grated ginger, ajwain, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Add water gradually and knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll each ball into a small disc and place a portion of the sattu filling in the center.
- Bring the edges of the dough together to cover the filling and roll it out into a paratha.
- Heat a griddle or tawa over medium heat and cook the paratha with ghee or oil until golden brown spots appear on both sides.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and filling to make more parathas.
