Sindhi Dal Pakwan Burrito
Sindhi Dal Pakwan Burrito is a fusion dish that combines the flavors of Sindhi cuisine with the convenience of a burrito. This recipe takes the traditional Sindhi dish of Dal Pakwan and wraps it in a tortilla for a delicious and portable meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 4-6 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 4 flour tortillas
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Wash the chana dal and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- Pressure cook the dal with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt until soft.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies, and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Heat a little oil in a separate pan and lightly fry the flour tortillas until they are warm and pliable.
- Place a portion of the dal mixture in the center of each tortilla, fold the sides in, and roll it up to form a burrito.
