Sindhi Dal Pakwan Burrito is a fusion dish that combines the flavors of Sindhi cuisine with the convenience of a burrito. This recipe takes the traditional Sindhi dish of Dal Pakwan and wraps it in a tortilla for a delicious and portable meal.

Sindhi Dal Pakwan Burrito

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 4-6 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 flour tortillas
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Wash the chana dal and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Pressure cook the dal with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt until soft.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies, and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Heat a little oil in a separate pan and lightly fry the flour tortillas until they are warm and pliable.
  8. Place a portion of the dal mixture in the center of each tortilla, fold the sides in, and roll it up to form a burrito.
